Part of the pre-approval application process to develop a solar energy park is the visibility assessment to determine the visual impact on nearby settlements and populated sites.
I undertook this analysis for a German energy infrastructure consultant for a pre-selected site in the state of Brandenburg. The analysis used the Viewpoints and Viewshed tooling in QGIS to produce viewshed maps for different observer heights and the exact parcel boundary and road clearance specified. The maps at 15k and 25k are to be embedded into the planning application for the development.
